Playing a woman desperately in need of a heart transplant changed Linda Mtoba’s outlook on life. In her recent interview with Drum Magazine, the TV star shared how her character helped her changed her views on the deeply controversial subject most families in SA would not even entertain.
The 25 year old star said,” Your death could give life to someone else”.
The Umlazi born superstar plays the rebellious Zama Ngwenya on Mzansi Magic’s Isibaya. Zama was fighting for her life because her heart has started to fail and they were on the hunt for a suitable donor.
In case you did not know, only 300 organ transplants are performed every year in South Africa and there are thousands of patients waiting for the gift of life. Organ donation is still a taboo in most black communities and other believe systems, due to cultural or religious inclinations.
Linda says even her parents were not impressed when she told that that he wanted to be an organ donor.
The former teacher once confessed how she misses her babies (students). She taught isiZulu to grade 1 and 5s. She said best thing about being a teacher was how the kids treated her( and any other teacher) like a superstar.
