Robbery Victim Thrown Off Moving Train: Verulam-KwaZulu Natal

A Shakaskraal resident was injured after he was robbed and thrown out of a moving train in Verulam – KZN today at (05/07/2017).

At approximately 13:41 members of Reaction Unit South Africa were dispatched to the scene after receiving a call from a member of public stating that a man was hanging by his jacket from the Canelands bridge.

Upon arrival it was established that the victim was travelling by train from Durban to Shakaskraal when he was approached by unknown individuals who robbed him off his shoes. The suspects then threw him out of the moving train as they were about to cross the Canelands bridge.

The victim’s jacket got hooked on the bridge resulting in him hanging several metres above the ground below. Members of the public who saw the man went to his aid and lifted him back into the bridge.

The victim sustained moderate injuries and was treated on scene by paramedics before being transported to hospital.
